Pigeon Pea Tree Indian
Small perennial tree to 3 meters. Good for nitrogen fixing in soils, and as a pioneering plant for soil repair. Peas are highly nutritious and are eaten raw or cooked. Leaf tips also can be eaten. Makes a great livestock fodder and is grown between rows on western sides for afternoon shade in permaculture gardens. Branches are cut back when flowers first appear to release nitrogen into soils.
